Stories of Resilience - Jennifer Guzman

Last night we had the Unofficial launch party for the Jennifer Guzman for Chicago Mayor at BEAR Construction Company in the Old Post Office =)

She doesn't know it yet, but that was my diabolical plan and last night, EVERYONE in that room understood why!

This fireside chat is part of the "Stories of Resilience" series.

I am proud and grateful to have Jen as a good friend and a Core Member in Orion3.

After our fireside chat, there was a line of people wanting to talk to her. It was so damn cool to see!

These conversations NEVER get recorded because these are rooms which become a safe space where people can share their real perspectives and real experiences. Without going into the details let me just highlight some of the things we covered:

- Growing up as a Mexican Jew in Rogers Park and being raised by her father
- Her main goal in life is to be a mother, and she shared all of the struggles that she's faced so far in the process
- Her fight with endometriosis and how it almost ended her life
- Leaving corporate and launching her own business and the ups and downs of entrepreneurship
- Her mission with Rise Chicago and what each of us need to do in order to create a better City, a better Illinois and ultimately a better nation.

I've always said Orion3 will never be a political vessel, but I would make exceptions on two situations:
Jennifer Guzman Running for Mayor and Amanda Lannert running for Governor 😁 .

What Jen said last night connected with almost every single person in that room. How do I know this? Because I know what almost every single person in that room is going through or has gone through in their life.

When I saw tears flowing from the eyes of the men and women in the audience, I knew it's because what she said hit home for them.

Jen - I am proud of you for the human that you are. You impacted every single person last night. You set the tone for the rest of the year for these fireside chats like Ana Prokic-Kostic and Angela did last year. Thank YOU for being so vulnerable and real last night!

A huge shoutout to Britni DeLeon, Liz Kammel Tilatti, Kasia Bednarz and the team at FARE for being the food sponsor! Everyone loved it and I highly recommend checking out their locations in the city. I'll share a different post next week about FARE.

Thank YOU to my brother and Orion3 Member, William Robinson, for being the beverage sponsor

Thank YOU to Orion3 Corporate Members Paola, Scott, Nicholas and the team at BEAR Construction Company for hosting at your beautiful space in the Old Post Office.

Thank YOU to all of the members and non members in Orion3 that came down for this!
